Not learning his lesson, Gorby retires to his vacation retreat on the
eve of yet another save the Union treaty vote. This time the Ukraine
has had enough and has the muscle to prevent its relative prosperity
from once again being partitioned among its less fortunate neighbors.
To stop the treaty and ensure its own secession, the Ukraine seizes
Gorby in his compound at the extreme southwestern tip of Crimea.

This scenario is to be played from the RED side only.

Red (Soviet Union Loyalists) Situation

Not much of the original Black Sea fleet remains under Union control
with the sad fact being that most of the forces have been lost due to
neglect. What remains has been assigned the task of rescuing Gorbachev
from the Ukrainians. With Odessa and Sevastopol having been rendered
useless in factional fighting, the use of limited air assets out of
Tiblisi has been secured by Gorby's friend and native Georgian, Eduard
Shevardnadze.

Blue (Ukrainian) Situation

When the Ukraine formed its own army in '92 the other republics
removed all elements of the Black Sea fleet and air force from
Ukrainian control. This forced the Ukraine to acquire a hodge podge of
ships and aircraft from former Soviet clients and Western nations
eager for trade ties. The Ukraine paid for the hardware with grain and
coal exports and it is rumored, in some cases with nuclear weapons
still under its control.

Red Orders

Rescue Gorbachev from his captors with a helicopter assault supported
by a Tango class sub and a small missile boat group. Once Gorbachev
and his advisers are aboard the Moskva, proceed to the eastern shore
of the Black Sea where they can be returned to Moscow via Tiblisi.
Expect resistance once the rescue is successful! The sub and transport
helos must remain on station near the dacha for the times indicated
below. Getting the Moskva inside the air radar circle of Tiblisi will
satisfy the victory condition.

RED MINIMUM VICTORY CONDITION (AND) 1:
1 Moskva ship must be on station for 1 hrs, 0 min, 0 sec.
RED MINIMUM VICTORY CONDITION (AND) 2:
1 Tango sub must be on station for 1 hrs, 0 min, 0 sec.
